No one wants to do taxes….except a CPA!
I’ll be honest, I think taxes and finances are the most difficult part of being a business owner. There are so many ins and outs, and it’s overall just one big headache that can leave you feeling overwhelmed and also robbed by the government.
That’s why I cannot stress enough, how much paying a Tax Professional is worth!!! and here’s why:
1) If it’s not your thing, hire it out.
Just like you know all the technical nitty gritty about your business, they know all the technical nitty gritty about theirs. You have spent years learning and gaining knowledge in your field which is why people hire you—and so have they, which is why you should hire them. You wouldn’t let a “friend with a camera” shoot your wedding right? Doing your taxes yourself is basically the financial equivalent of that.
2) They Can be a “One Stop Shop” for taking your business into legitimacy
I don’t know about you, but figuring out how to go from a “Hobby” to a Business was a bit daunting to me. Figuring out the differences between types of businesses (LLC, Sole Proprietor, S-Corp etc.) and what each type means for your finances is not for the faint of heart! My CPA not only was able to walk me through what each option was, and give me her recommendation based on my business, she also had a partnership with a lawyer, and she did all of the coordinating and document gathering for me!

3) It’s a write off.
Even though it seems hard to spend money on something you could potentially do yourself, that money is a business expense that can be deducted from your taxable income! yay!
4) Time is Money
….especially if you are a creative business owner or your business provides a service, your time is literally your money. So save a few hours of your precious time and pay someone else. You can use those extra hours to bring more money in!
5) Peace of mind
if nothing else, having a tax professional handle your taxes will give you peace of mind. You don’t have to memorize all of the tax policies and rules and loopholes and regulations because thats someone else’s job and profession. Peace of mind is something I value A LOT. There are so many things where the cost in money is a small amount to pay for the stress and anxiety it’s saving me from!
