FAST FACTS
Located in Sugarhouse
Natural Light
$50 per/hour
Find them on instagram: @mieshstudio or online: mieshstudio.com
LOCATION:
Miesh Studio is in Salt Lake City just off of i-80 east. It’s inside of a big warehouse next to trax, with graffiti all over the building!
The address of the actual building is: 2225 S 575 E SLC, UT 84106
however, that won’t pull up easily in your maps,
so instead of the actual address, put this address: 2225 S. 600 E.
The parking lot next to the building can be used for loading and unloading, but you’ll want to leave your car (and have your clients park) in the parking lot on the east side of 600 east, You can also park on the street on 600 E. Once you park, walk west, along the trax sidewalk towards 575 E. the studio is located inside the building with all the graffiti on it! You’ll see a few steps leading to the door on the south side of the building (right next to the trax sidewalk) it is kind of camouflaged with the rest of the building Here’s a photo of the building and the exterior entrance:
You can find detailed instructions and a map on Miesh’s site. HERE
Once you’re in the building, there is a second door that will be locked, the studio manager’s phone number will be posted outside of it, you can text or call to let her know you’ve arrived and she’ll come let you in!
WHAT’S INSIDE
Miesh Studio has two different rooms available for rent. The main, large space is the “South Room” It has an entire wall running the length of the room with south facing windows.
The majority of the south room is white with gray cement floor with the exception of a small natural wood wall, and a Dark Blue wall at one end.
There is a beautiful vintage iron bed, an elegant green 70’s vibe love seat, a few stools, some tall white chairs, a bar cart, a dark blue couch, and a few other items to use for staging your shoot.
The North room is much smaller, and has darker tones. with softer northern light. It has a black cinderblock wall on one side, and white shiplap on the other.
Check out photos of both the space on Miesh’s Site HERE
WHAT I LOVE
The things I love about this studio are:
Light. The south facing windows, the amount of windows, and the second story location make for lots of light pretty much all day.
Aesthetics. This studio was very thoughtfully created and it shows. SO many studios are built for function only, or without much consideration to the layout, light, colors, etc. This studio was built for beauty which really helps me and my clients get into the creativity and vision while shooting. The furniture is upscale, the facility is well maintained and clean, and overall it’s just feels nice to be there.
Management. The owner of the studio and her managers are extremely professional, helpful, kind, and easy going. They are there onsite if you need anything (extension cord, clips, tape, a water bottle..). but they leave you your space and don’t interrupt or disrupt in any way. booking is easy with a venmo payment, and I have never once had a bad experience in all my years shooting here.
Privacy. Being on the second floor gives you privacy from foot traffic, this makes it ideal for boudoir sessions, but for other sessions too. Since you usually want windows wide open to be shooting with the natural light, that leaves it wide open for passers by to peek in the windows which can be uncomfortable for you and your clients.
Size. This studio has a lot of useable space for wide shots and close ups, and with plenty of room for a couple different set ups. The tall ceilings are amazing for wide shots and for setting up paper backdrops.
How to book
Send a message through the contact form to check availability HERE
You will receive an email with a yes or no on the availability and a total bill with instructions to pay via Venmo
Reservations are not held until payment is made.
book 24 hours or more in advance, as there is an onsite manager for all shoots last minute bookings are not generally available.
Things to Know before you go
The parking being across the street, and the studio being inside a building with multiple other business, doors, spaces, etc. Can make it hard for clients to find it, consider meeting them in the parking lot, or by the exterior door so you can walk up together. If you’re doing mini sessions or will be there setting up before your client gets there, give really detailed clear instructions, consider sending pictures or posting a video of how to find the space on your insta stories.
The other spaces, common areas etc. belong to other renters and are not affiliated with Miesh studio, so be respectful, don’t leave things outside the studio in their space, if there are kids or multiple people involved in your shoot make sure they stay in the studio space with you ** book both rooms if you need a place for people to hang out while you’re shooting!
You have to book a minimum of 2 hours per booking at this studio, its fairly comparable cost-wise to renting one hour at several of my favorite spots and for me I can easily use up the time with set up, take down, makeup, etc.
There are a lot of stairs. SO you may need help carrying things up to avoid multiple trips up and down. The manager is generally available to help for this but just keep that in mind as you’re planning on props, paper rolls, etc. Don’t bring anything you’re not willing to carry up some stairs!
